Sharmila Chauhan

Sharmila Chauhan is a screenwriter, playwright, and prose writer: fascinated by the quiet meanings of peoples’ lives, her work is often a transgressive meditation on love, sex, and an exploration of the diasporic experience. She has written three short films and one feature. Most recently, her short film Oysters was commissioned by Film London (2016). She was also part of the Film London–Cinestan Microschool (2016), where she developed her feature Heart of the City. Shortlisted for the Asian New Writer Award (2009 and 2012), Sharmila’s short stories have been published widely in print and online. She is currently working on her novel Seven Mirrors and is Artist in Residence at the Tagore Centre London and a curator for the South Asian Women’s Creative Collective (SAW- CC), London.
